Adyen (ADYEY) — $9.45

Adyen has a 10-year median ROIC of 93.0%. That means for almost every dollar the company puts back into the business, it gets nearly a full dollar back in return — year after year, for a decade straight. Numbers like that are rare. Net margins average 37.5% over five years, and net debt payback sits at zero — Adyen funds its own growth entirely from its own cash. The one thing to watch: shares outstanding crept up 3% over five years, a mild dilution worth keeping an eye on. WEEK

1. Netflix’s Buyback Was Bigger Than Its Earnings Beat

On July 16, Netflix reported second-quarter revenue of $12.6 billion, roughly in line with expectations and up 13% from a year ago. But shares still dropped more than 8% after the company narrowed its full-year guidance instead of raising it, and warned that third-quarter growth would slow. The bright spot: Netflix bought back $4.7 billion of its own stock during the quarter — the largest buyback in company history. The company is also leaning into live sports, including rights to the 2027 Women’s World Cup, to keep subscribers engaged and advertisers spending. Even market leaders have to keep proving themselves, quarter after quarter.

2. ASML Just Raised Its Guidance for the Second Time This Year

On July 15, ASML raised its full-year 2026 sales forecast again, now expecting between €43 billion and €45 billion — well above what analysts had penciled in. Second-quarter net profit came in at €2.9 billion, up from €2.3 billion a year earlier. The Dutch company is the only maker of the extreme ultraviolet lithography machines needed to build the most advanced AI chips, and it’s boosting 2027 production capacity by 30% to keep up with demand. When the company that supplies the chipmakers keeps raising its numbers, that’s a good sign the AI buildout still has room to run.

3. Alphabet Lost $200 Billion in a Day Over a Delayed Product

Alphabet shares fell more than 4% on July 16, wiping out roughly $200 billion in market value in a single session, after reports that Google’s next flagship AI model is running months behind schedule. The company had promised it in June; it still hasn’t shipped. For long-term investors, this isn’t really about one delayed product — it’s about how fast the market now punishes any sign of falling behind in AI. Alphabet still has enormous distribution through Search, Android, and Workspace. Whether that’s enough to offset a slower release is exactly what the market is pricing in right now.

4. Apple Finally Cracked China — With Help From Alibaba and Baidu

On July 15, Chinese regulators approved Apple Intelligence for iPhones in China — a market Apple has struggled in for years — through partnerships with Alibaba and Baidu. Alibaba’s Qwen model will power Apple Intelligence features across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro devices in China, while Baidu supports the rollout too. Alibaba shares jumped as much as 7.9% and Baidu gained about 4% on the news. A reminder that even the biggest global companies sometimes need local partners to unlock a market — and that the partner can end up being just as important a story as the giant.

5. JPMorgan Just Posted the Best Quarter in Its History

JPMorgan Chase reported $21.2 billion in net income on July 14 — $7.70 per share, its best quarter ever — boosted by a $4.6 billion gain on its Visa stake and a surge in trading revenue. Every business line posted record revenue, and total managed revenue rose 27% year over year to $58 billion. CEO Jamie Dimon called the environment “particularly favorable,” while flagging risks — inflation, debt, geopolitical tension — building “like tectonic plates” beneath the surface.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

I Invested in Random Stocks for 365 Days. Its payout ratio sits at 82.4% — and for a REIT, that's not a warning sign. REITs are legally required to distribute the vast majority of their taxable income to shareholders, so a high payout ratio is simply how the structure works. A cell tower giant with a 4.2% yield and a decade of uninterrupted raises is worth understanding. A yield of 4.0% for a business that’s already proven it can survive the worst-case scenario. The payout ratio is a reasonable 61.0%, and the yield is the highest of this week’s three REITs at 6.9%. WEEK

1. Equifax Just Bought Its Way Into Mexico

On July 7, Equifax announced a deal to acquire Círculo de Crédito, Mexico’s fastest-growing credit bureau, for $750 million. It’s Equifax’s 17th bolt-on acquisition in six years — nearly $5 billion spent building out its data empire piece by piece. Círculo de Crédito’s revenue grew 31% over the past year, and Equifax expects the deal to boost earnings in year one. More than a quarter of Mexico’s population has no access to formal financial products. Equifax just bought a front-row seat to fixing that — and to profiting from it. This is what patient, bolt-on growth looks like in practice.

2. Meta Just Had Its Best Week Since 2024 — And It’s About Chips

Meta Platforms surged nearly 15% this week after a Bank of America note suggested the company is building its own custom AI chip to cut costs. The math is striking: instead of spending $45 billion per gigawatt of AI computing capacity, Meta may be getting it closer to $22 billion. That’s the difference between an arms race that bleeds cash and one that pays off. Meta has climbed 22% in just ten trading days. Investors aren’t just betting on Meta’s apps anymore — they’re betting Meta can out-engineer the AI spending problem everyone else is struggling with.

3. Delta’s Earnings Beat — But the Stock Fell Anyway

Delta Air Lines topped Wall Street’s expectations this week, posting adjusted earnings of $1.56 per share against estimates of $1.46, with revenue of $17.67 billion. The company reaffirmed its full-year guidance and gave solid third-quarter guidance too. Yet the stock dropped more than 3%. Why? Investors are looking past the good quarter and worrying about fuel costs and travel demand into next year. It’s a reminder that in the market, the headline number is rarely the whole story — what matters is what investors think comes next.

4. J.B. Hunt Gets a Massive Vote of Confidence

Bernstein upgraded J.B. Hunt this week from Market Perform to Outperform — and raised its price target from $192 all the way to $329. The reasoning: truck rates are structurally improving, and J.B. Hunt’s entire business is levered to that shift. The stock has already climbed 84% over the past year. Bernstein’s own note said it would “rather be late to the trade than remain on the sidelines.” When an analyst admits they’re chasing a stock instead of leading it, that’s a sign the underlying story has real momentum behind it.

5. Levi Strauss Beat on Every Number — and Still Got Punished

Levi Strauss reported second-quarter results this week that beat on both revenue and earnings, raised its full-year guidance for the second consecutive quarter, and hiked its dividend by 14%. Adjusted earnings came in at $0.28 per share against a $0.24 estimate, and revenue climbed 8% to $1.56 billion. Yet the stock dropped more than 5% after hours. The reason: investors had priced in an even bigger beat, and the guidance, while raised, only just cleared analyst expectations. It’s a good reminder that a great quarter isn’t always enough — what matters is whether it beats what the market already assumed.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Nelson Peltz Is All In On These 8 Stocks

He started as a delivery truck driver. Today he manages $3.8 billion — and forces companies like Disney and Unilever to change course, or face a public fight.

This week, we opened Nelson Peltz’s entire US portfolio. Just 8 positions. No clutter, no noise — pure conviction.

There’s a pattern hiding in there. Three of his biggest bets came from corporate breakups most investors ignored. JBS NV (JBS) — $12.26

Here’s a dividend yield that stops you mid-scroll: 11.4%. JBS, the global meat producer, pays it out on a modest 21.3% payout ratio — meaning there’s plenty of room before that dividend is under any real strain. Five-year dividend growth sits at 6.9% annually, though the payout history is lumpy rather than steady, with a big jump in 2021 and again in 2024.

That volatility is worth understanding before you get excited about the yield. MATTER THIS WEEK

1. Nike’s Earnings Beat Was Real — But So Was the Tariff Check

On June 30, Nike reported earnings of 72 cents per share against expectations of just 13 cents. Strip out a one-time 52-cent benefit from an expected $986 million tariff refund, and underlying earnings were still 20 cents — beating estimates. Revenue topped forecasts too. But Greater China sales fell 12%, and CEO Elliott Hill admitted the turnaround “isn’t there yet.” The stock swung between gains and losses after hours before settling lower. This is a useful reminder for long-term investors: a beat isn’t always a beat. Always ask what’s driving the number before you celebrate it.

2. Apple Is Betting Big on a $2,500 Foldable Phone

Apple raised its production target for its first-ever foldable iPhone to 10 million units this year, up from 7-8 million, according to a Nikkei Asia report this week. The company has already secured parts for roughly 80 million smartphones for the second half of 2026, and total iPhone production is expected to top 220 million units. This comes right after Apple raised prices on Macs and iPads to offset a global memory chip shortage. Apple shares jumped nearly 4% on the news. The lesson here isn’t about one gadget — it’s about what happens when a company’s supply chain muscle lets it expand while smaller rivals are forced to cut back.

3. GM Sold the Most Cars in America — But Sold Fewer Than Last Year

General Motors reported U.S. second-quarter sales of 714,896 vehicles, down 4.2% from a year earlier, yet still enough to make it America’s best-selling automaker. EV sales dropped 33%, partly because buyers rushed to purchase EVs a year ago ahead of an expiring tax credit. Trucks and SUVs held up the business, with the GMC Sierra posting its best-ever second quarter. Average transaction prices topped $52,400, and incentives stayed below the industry average for a third straight year. A falling sales number isn’t always bad news — sometimes it just means a company is choosing profit over volume.

4. Constellation Brands Beat Estimates — and Investors Actually Believed It

Constellation Brands, the company behind Corona and Modelo, reported fiscal first-quarter earnings of $3.43 a share on June 30, beating the $3.21 analysts expected. Revenue also came in ahead of forecasts. Shares rose more than 2.5% as management raised its full-year earnings outlook and reaffirmed shareholder returns, including over $400 million already sent back through buybacks and dividends this year. Executives said beer sales have picked back up in June after a choppier spring. For a company whose stock has struggled with tariff and consumer-spending worries, a credible beat plus raised guidance is exactly the kind of quiet reassurance long-term holders look for.

5. A CEO Comeback: Copart’s Founder-Era Leader Returns

Copart, the online vehicle auction giant, announced this week that CEO Jeff Liaw will step down effective July 31, with Executive Chairman Jay Adair — who ran the company as CEO for 14 years before Liaw — returning to the role. Liaw will stay on as a special advisor through the transition. Copart’s stock has fallen roughly 37% over the past year despite record transaction values and auction liquidity under Liaw. Bringing back a founder-era leader during a rough stretch can be read two ways: a vote of confidence in what worked before, or a sign the board wants a steadier hand. Worth watching how Adair frames his return.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

5 Stocks to Buy and Hold Forever

Some businesses are never on sale. That’s not always a bad sign.

This video looks at five companies that almost never trade at a discount — and asks whether that’s actually the point. One owns the plumbing behind global debt markets. Another has been collecting royalties on the same land since the 1800s. A third has built scarcity into its business model so completely that a markdown would break the brand. A fourth moves money for billions of people without ever lending a dollar. And the fifth is sitting on hundreds of billions in cash, patiently waiting.

None of them are cheap. MATTER THIS WEEK

1. Micron Just Reported the Most Remarkable Earnings in Its History

On June 24, Micron Technology reported revenue of $41.5 billion for the quarter — up 346% from a year ago. Gross margins hit 84.9%. Free cash flow reached $18.3 billion. The stock jumped 17% in a single day. The driver is AI. Data centers are buying memory chips faster than Micron can make them. For the next quarter, the company expects $50 billion in revenue. These are numbers that would have seemed impossible two years ago. This is what happens when a business sits at the center of a technology shift. It’s worth understanding what Micron actually does.

2. GameStop Is Trying to Buy eBay — and Ryan Cohen Is Putting His Own Money In

This is not a joke. Ryan Cohen, CEO of GameStop, is pursuing a $56 billion takeover of eBay. eBay’s board said no. Cohen came back. This week he voluntarily gave up a $35 billion personal pay package to show he’s serious — and committed $500 million of his own money to the bid. His argument: a combined GameStop and eBay could challenge Amazon. Whether this deal ever happens or not, it tells you something important. The most interesting moves in business rarely come from the most obvious places.

3. Apple and Microsoft Both Raised Prices This Week

On June 25, both Apple and Microsoft announced price increases on key products. Apple raised prices on MacBooks and iPads. Microsoft raised the price of the Xbox by $100. Both companies pointed to higher chip and component costs. Apple fell 6.2%. Microsoft dropped 3.78%. For long-term investors, this is a two-sided story. Rising costs hurt margins. But companies with loyal customers — like these two — can pass costs on. That’s what pricing power looks like. Not every business can do it. The ones that can are worth far more than the ones that can’t.

4. Qualcomm Nearly Doubled Its Revenue Forecast

Qualcomm this week announced it now expects $40 billion in revenue from non-smartphone products by 2029 — up from a prior forecast of $22 billion. The stock jumped 9%. This matters because Qualcomm has spent years trying to reduce its dependence on phone chips. Cars, laptops, industrial devices, AI edge computing — Qualcomm is pushing into all of it. That gap between perception and reality is where long-term investors find their best opportunities.

5. OpenAI Is Delaying Its IPO — Because of What Happened to SpaceX

This week, reports emerged that OpenAI is reconsidering its public listing timeline, partly because of how badly SpaceX stock performed after its debut. After an explosive IPO, SpaceX fell below its listing price within days. OpenAI is watching. For long-term investors, this is a healthy sign. Rushing a listing to capture excitement rarely ends well for new shareholders. The best businesses go public when they are ready — not when the headlines are loudest. OpenAI’s patience, if it holds, will likely benefit whoever eventually buys in at the right price.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

5 Companies With Zero Debt and Massive Growth

Most companies borrow money to grow. These five don’t need to.

Having more cash than debt is rare. But the companies in this video go much further. They combine that financial strength with profit margins most businesses will never see — and growth rates that have quietly compounded into extraordinary returns.

One of them is a small security company most investors have never heard of. Another is hiding in plain sight, one of the most profitable businesses in the world. The video walks through the most important numbers for each, explains what makes them special.
